MTU hosted a half-day seminar on the 28th of March 2024 entitled “Enabling the Enablers”.
Around forty people attended from HEIs all across the island, including Ulster University, Queen’s University Belfast, University of Galway, Maynooth UNiversity, UCC, and of course MTU technical staff.
The first session explored what technical staff want out of a network, what can we can learn from other networks, and what opportunities we can explore. Dermot Barry started the session which also included a fantastic Q&A session with members of the AITSN steering group . Gillian Riddell gave an overview of the Technician Commitment and Heather Burgess presented on the UK Institute of Technical Skills and Strategies.
After lunch some of the attendees enjoyed a tour of the MTU Bishopstown campus and laboratories.
