Map of Ireland and Northern Ireland with stylised network overlay and the words Engage, Support, Celebrate, and Connect

The All-Ireland Technical Staff Network is a collaborative network of technical staff in higher education and research on the island of Ireland. The network welcomes technical staff, whatever their job title, from disciplines that include the arts, engineering, medicine, science, technology, trades & social sciences.

The Ireland and Northern Ireland higher education and research sectors benefit from a highly skilled and motivated technical workforce. Yet, for too long their technical expertise has been hidden away.

We aim to shine a light on the critical role that technical staff play.

Launch

The virtual launch of the All-Ireland Technical Staff Network (AITSN) took place on Wednesday, 4th of October 2023, and featured introductions to the network by Gillian Riddell (QUB) and Dermot Barry (MTU). They were followed with a talk about the history of technicians by Andy Connolly (Northumbria University) and a Q&A session with the Steering Group.

Steering Group

Our Steering Group members are all technical staff from HEIs across the island of Ireland.
